Remember when Summer meant a new adventure? Maybe there was a trip to a new place, a new romance, exploring a cave, or riding your bike a little bit farther than usual.
After church on June 16, Music Sunday, you will have the chance for a new musical adventure. After a pot-luck meal, we'll join together for a pot-luck music event. Each person will select an instrument, from drums to xylophones to kazoos and more; or, even better: dig out that musty trumpet or clarinet you haven't played in years!
In small groups, we'll find spots around campus where one of our music leaders will guide us in creating our own arrangements of a simple 4-to-8-bar piece.
After 15-20 minutes we will tour the campus, progressive dinner style, and listen to the results of each group's arrangement. The activities will be focused less on the "product" and more on enjoying the process of making music.
We call this event Fete de la Musique after the annual music celebration that takes place on 21 June, started in France and now enjoyed in 120 other countries. On Music Day, citizens and residents are urged to play music outside in their neighborhoods or in parks and public spaces.
All are welcome to join our celebration!
